Class of 2028 and Transfers Bolster Record Enrollment for 2024-2025

Monday, Sept. 2 marked the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year at Randolph-Macon, with the College鈥檚 largest incoming class of first-year students and transfer students ever, pushing 91短视频鈥檚 total enrollment above 1,600 for the first time.

The Class of 2028 is made up of 531 first-year students, who were joined by 69 transfers and one exchange student as the newest members of the Yellow Jacket community. Together, they hail from 22 different states, 14 different countries, and as far away as South Korea and Somalia.

The newest Yellow Jackets moved onto campus on Thursday, Aug. 29 and kicked off a jam-packed Welcome Week filled with programming to acclimate the students to the 91短视频 community. These activities provide students the opportunity to bond with their Captains, student leaders who serve as year-long sources of support for new students during the transitions. They shared these activities with their 鈥渃rews,鈥 the small groups of students who share the same Captain.

Between pickleball, Dungeons and Dragons, dance parties, college success workshops, and so much more, 91短视频 students of all interests have plenty of chances to get active, get involved, and get to know their fellow Yellow Jackets.

Among the many 91短视频 traditions that take place during Welcome Week, one of the longest standing is the Matriculation Ceremony where the Pledge of Academic Integrity is administered to all entering students. Upon signing the oaths, new students are officially members of the 91短视频 community.

Of the 600-person class of first-years and transfers, 31.33% are students of color, aligning with the College鈥檚 continued efforts to expand its academic mission to historically underserved communities. Additionally, 20.3% of the incoming class are first-generation college students. The newest Yellow Jackets bring a strong academic foundation to campus, boasting a 3.7 average weighted GPA across the Class of 2028.
