The Student Government Association (SGA) is the representative body for students at Randolph-Macon College. SGA promotes self-governance and provides educational opportunities for student leaders to grow and develop skills in advocacy, executive function, and the democratic process.

The SGA derives its authority and responsibility from the administration of the College and reports to the Student Engagement Center. The College recognizes and celebrates the value of student participation in College affairs, as is evidenced by the inclusion of students as full members on a large number of decision-making committees and institutional work groups.

One important function of Student Government is to encourage the student body to formulate opinions and ideas on various matters of interest to students. Once such opinions and ideas are formulated, the Student Government’s job is to convey those opinions and ideas to faculty, administration, and trustees and to engage in discussion.

The Student Government Association’s structure is designed to mimic the administration of the College. This helps the SGA members communicate directly with administrators to impact the living and learning environments for all members of the Randolph-Macon College student body.

About the SGA

SGA Meetings

All Student Government Association Meetings take place every Tuesday at 12:00 PM in the SGA Conference Room on the 2nd Floor of Brock Commons. These meetings are open to the student body, and all students are encouraged to attend.

President’s Forum

Each year, the Student Government Association hosts two forums for the student body to interact with President Lindgren and his Cabinet. Typically, one is hosted each semester. Stay tuned for dates and times!

Organization Funding Requests

The Student Government Association maintains a budget from the Student Engagement Center that allows us to disburse funds to campus clubs and organizations for qualified expenses.

Funding requests require a minimum of two weeks to be approved. Please keep this in mind when requesting funds. Requests received prior to Sunday at midnight will be discussed during the SGA meeting on the following Tuesday. Requests received after this deadline will be reviewed during the next cycle.
